Multiple Car Crash Snarls San Mateo Bridge Traffic

FOSTER CITY (BCN) ― All lanes on the westbound side of the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge reopened around 7:20 a.m. Thursday after a multiple-vehicle collision blocked several lanes and stalled commuter traffic, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash, involving at least six vehicles, was reported around 6:15 a.m., CHP Officer Kevin Kroncke said. The Nos. 2 and 3 lanes of were closed toward the middle of the bridge, Kroncke said.

A Sig-alert was issued around 6:30 a.m., and drivers were encouraged to take the Dumbarton Bridge or Bay Bridge as alternate routes, Kroncke said.

There was no immediate word on the extent of any injuries
