Police: San Leandro Shooting Likely Drug Related

 CBS 5 CrimeWatch

SAN LEANDRO (BCN) ― Police said Friday that a fatal shooting in an upscale San Leandro neighborhood Wednesday night was likely drug related.

A large amount of marijuana was recovered from the home of the victim, 32-year-old Linh Tu Nguyen, according to the San Leandro Police Department. Police said they do not think the shooting was random.

Around 11:20 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to reports of a shooting at a home in the 15000 block of Orion Road in San Leandro.

They found Nguyen inside suffering from gunshot wounds and he was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police Lt. Pete Ballew said the neighborhood where the shooting happened, Marina Vista, is an especially nice part of San Leandro that has many spacious new homes.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Detective Sgt. Robert McManus at (510) 577-3237 or leave an anonymous tip at (510) 577-3278.
