San Leandro 880 Lanes Reopen After Hit & Run Crash
SAN LEANDRO (CBS 5 / BCN) ―
The California Highway Patrol shut down all but one lane of northbound Interstate Highway 880 for nearly two hours early Wednesday morning due to a hit-and-run crash in San Leandro, a CHP officer said.
Units responded to highway 880 near Marina Boulevard at around 4:15 a.m. where a van was reportedly hit by another vehicle that did not stop at the scene, CHP Officer John Short said.
The van overturned and was engulfed in flames, but responding rescue personnel were able to extract the driver who suffered only minor injuries, Short said.
All northbound lanes were reopened at 6:10 a.m. but the Wednesday morning commute traffic was clogged for for hours after the crash.
