San Francisco Parking Ticket Fees Go Up On Friday

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5 / KCBS) ― It's going to be more expensive to park in San Francisco, thanks to a city budget that calls for higher fees beginning Friday.

That means you will pay more for virtually everything associated with your car, whether it's applying for a parking permit or paying off a parking ticket, said Judson True, spokesman for the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency.

"Folks who get parking citations will see an increase of about $10 per citation for any citation that is now under $100," True said.

For example, a $40 ticket for an expired meter would cost you $50 on Friday. The fee to remove a parking boot almost triples from $75 to a whopping $205.

Supervisor Bevan Dufty said he voted reluctantly for the fee increases, but he said it was necessary since this is a tough budget year.
