2 Californians Claim Top Finishes At SF Marathon
SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) ―
A 34-year-old Sacramento man and a 25-year-old Millbrae woman celebrated their first wins of the San Francisco Marathon on Sunday, race officials announced.
Chad Worthen was the first man to cross the finish line with a time of 2 hours, 31 minutes and 52 seconds.
Lauren Gustafson was the first woman to finish the race with a time of 2 hours, 52 minutes and 33 seconds.
More than 19,000 runners from all 50 states and 56 countries participated in the marathon, two half marathons and 5 kilometer run/walk, according to race officials.
Close behind Worthen were 44-year-old Mustapha Berri of France, who finished with a race time of 2 hours, 33 minutes and 57 seconds; and 28-year-old San Francisco resident Mark Pilja, who completed the race in 2 hours, 38 minutes and 20 seconds.
The second and third place winners among women were Jenny Graef of Norman, Okla. with a race time of 3 hours, 6 minutes and 56 seconds; and Ashley Hansen of Sonoma with a race time of 3 hours, 9 minutes and 16 seconds.
