SF Hunters Point May Be Home To Biodiesel Plant
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5) ―
In San Francisco, restaurants use and dispose of millions of gallons of cooking grease each year. Now all that grease may end up on the commute, fueling the city's Muni buses.
A huge biodiesel plant is proposed for Pier 92 on the city's south waterfront. The plant would be San Francisco's first, and would convert grease into auto-grade fuel, enough to power 1,500 of the city's diesel-powered vehicles, most of which are Muni buses.
