2 New Safeway Robberies In Martinez, Fairfield
FAIRFIELD (BCN) ―
Martinez and Fairfield police are investigating the armed robberies of Safeway grocery stores Friday morning.
The latest robbery was reported at about 4:50 a.m. in a Safeway store at 2401 Waterman Blvd. in Fairfield, according to police.
The suspect allegedly selected a package of donuts and paid for them, and when the clerk asked if he needed anything else, the suspect took out a handgun and demanded money from the register, police said.
No injuries were reported during the robbery.
The suspect is described as a white male in his mid-20s with light
facial hair who is about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds.
The suspect was last seen wearing a white baseball-style hat, a green hooded sweatshirt and blue pants, police said.
A similar suspect description was given for the armed robbery of a Safeway store earlier Friday morning in Martinez at 4 a.m.
According to Martinez police, the suspect in that robbery was also wearing a white hat, green hooded sweatshirt and blue pants.
A similar robbery of another Safeway store in Fairfield also occurred earlier in the week. The robbery occurred on Wednesday morning at store on Business Center Drive when a suspect bought a drink before showing a handgun and demanding cash.
However, Fairfield and Martinez police could not yet confirm whether or not any of the robberies are related.
