Sacto Area Man Accused In Freeway Shootings
SACRAMENTO (CBS 5 / AP) ―
Authorities say a Roseville man accused of four separate freeway shootings in the Sacramento area was motivated by road rage.
The California Highway Patrol on Tuesday announced the arrest of 23-year-old Kyle Douglas Frank in connection with the incidents, which began Aug. 22 and continued over the next few weeks on Interstates 5 and 80.
The CHP says in each case, Frank became enraged and drove around the victims' cars in an attempt to bait them into a confrontation. He then allegedly pulled a handgun and opened fire.
Eight people, including two children, were endangered. One suffered minor injuries.
Frank has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and shooting into an inhabited vehicle. His attorney, Paul Irish, says Frank has a history of mental health problems.
