Richmond Break-Ins May Be Related
RICHMOND (BCN) ―
Richmond police are investigating two home invasion robberies in as many days that may have been related.
The most recent robbery happened at about 2:05 a.m. today in the 100 block of Sixth Street, according to police Lt. Mike Gormley.
A suspect allegedly entered an apartment, went into a bedroom and pointed a gun at the chest of a man in the bed, ordering him to give him money, Gormley said.
The victim gave his wallet to the suspect, who then fled the apartment. Due to the lack of light in the room, the suspect was only described as having a deep voice, according to Gormley.
The robbery came after a similar robbery early Tuesday morning just eight blocks away from this morning's incident.
Tuesday's robbery was reported at about 1:05 a.m. at an apartment in the 100 block of Marina Way, Gormley said.
The suspect smashed the glass of a rear door of an apartment and entered to find a 14-year-old boy asleep on the couch. The boy woke up and ran into his aunt's room and pulled the door closed, according to Gormley.
The victims heard a man with a deep voice demanding cash, and they got together about $70 and threw the money through the door to the suspect, who then fled, Gormley said.
Police could not confirm that the two robberies are related, but Gormley said they are "definitely looking at that possibility."
