Richmond Teen Shot; Won't Tell What Happened
RICHMOND (BCN) ―
A 17-year-old girl who walked into a hospital in Richmond with a gunshot wound Tuesday night refused to tell officers how she was injured, police said Wednesday.
The victim arrived at Kaiser Richmond Medical Center at about 8:50 p.m. suffering a non-life threatening gunshot wound to her forearm, according to Richmond police Lt. Mike Gormley.
The girl subsequently told officers at least two different stories where the gunshot wound came from, and none of the stories proved to be true, Gormley said.
The girl first told police she was shot at Third Street and Maine Avenue, but officers towing a car in the area at that time said no shots were fired then, according to Gormley.
Each subsequent story the girl told was investigated by police but produced no outcomes, Gormley said.
"They checked out all the places she said, but none were right," Gormley said.
The next step was for detectives to talk to the victim and then to wait to see if more information arises, according to Gormley.
Otherwise, the case "goes inactive," Gormley said.
