El Sobrante Man Killed In I-80 Crash Near Richmond

A man who was killed early Friday morning in a crash on Interstate Highway 80 in Richmond has been identified as 21-year-old Tayyab Amjad, according to the Contra Costa County coroner's office.

The crash, which involved two Toyota Camrys, happened at about 12:20 a.m. on eastbound Highway 80 just west of El Portal Drive, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Marc Johnston.

Authorities found one of the vehicles overturned on the right shoulder of the roadway.

Amjad, an El Sobrante resident, was inside the overturned car. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Johnston said.
