E. Bay Police Chase Ends In Crash; Pedestrian Hit
BRENTWOOD (BCN) ―
A 23-year-old Oakley man was arrested Friday afternoon following a high-speed pursuit that ended in Antioch when he lost control of a stolen truck and hit a pedestrian before crashing down an embankment, according to Brentwood police.
Robert Burnett was arrested at the end of the incident, which started at about 2:10 p.m. when a Brentwood police officer discovered and followed a stolen vehicle from Brentwood to a home on Sand Mound Road in Oakley.
The officer tried to detain Burnett, who allegedly ran to a neighboring home where he stole a pickup truck and sped away, according to police.
Burnett led police on a pursuit to Antioch, where the suspect eventually lost control of the stolen truck, hit the pedestrian and crashed, police said.
Burnett fled the vehicle but was taken into custody a short time later, and was transported to John Muir Medical Center with injuries that were not considered life threatening.
The pedestrian struck during the pursuit was also taken to John Muir Medical Center with injuries that were not considered life threatening, according to police.
