Public Transit On Weekend Schedule For July 4th
BAY AREA (AP) ―
Various Bay Area transportation companies are operating on weekend schedules Friday for Independence Day.
Bay Area Rapid Transit is running on its Sunday schedule.
Additional cars will be added to BART trains on the Dublin/Pleasanton to Daly City line and the Pittsburg/Bay Point to San Francisco International Airport line.
The extra cars are to accommodate passengers traveling to the Giants versus Dodgers game at AT&T Park, set to begin at 1:05 p.m., and for passengers taking BART to see the fireworks at Aquatic Park between Piers 39 and 45 in San Francisco.
BART will return to its normal schedule Saturday and Sunday.
The Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District is operating on its weekend schedule Friday.
All AC Transit business offices are closed as well.
The Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority is also running on its weekend schedule Friday.
However, motor coach service at the San Francisco Pier 39 stop will be suspended from 7 p.m. to midnight.
In addition, Capitol Corridor will move the San Francisco Ferry Building stop about 1.5 blocks to Steuart and Mission streets from 7 p.m. to midnight.
Truckee passengers will be picked up at the Truckee Diner Friday morning instead of the Truckee stop, since that area will be in accessible from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. due to a parade, train officials said.
