Capitola Pregnant Woman Stabbed; Boyfriend Jailed

 CBS 5 CrimeWatch

CAPITOLA (BCN) ― A 48-year-old man turned himself in to the Santa Cruz County Jail on Thursday night about a half hour after he allegedly stabbed his pregnant girlfriend multiple times, a Capitola police officer said Friday morning.

Investigators believe Ricky Childs, of Santa Cruz County, was intoxicated when he allegedly stabbed his girlfriend multiple times in the abdomen while in her home on Courtyard Drive around 6:25 p.m., Officer Leo Moreno said.

The woman was airlifted to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center where she and her unborn child were listed in stable condition.

Moreno said three children between the ages of 8 and 12 were present when the incident occurred. Two of the children are the victim's and one is the suspect's.

Childs apparently took his son and fled the home in his truck, dropping his son at a family friend's house, Moreno said.

Then, around 7 p.m., Childs drove to the county jail and turned himself in to police.
