A witness in the fatal shooting of two people last month outside of a San Francisco pizza parlor says authorities have the wrong man in the case.
19-year-old Matthew Owyang is being held without bail after being charged with two counts of murder and other charges.
Prosecutors say Owyang shot and killed 31-year-old Jason De La Cruz and 23-year-old Derek Butch outside a Sunset District pizzeria on March 29.
But during a preliminary hearing Monday, Tiffany Chan testified that she was sitting in the back of Owyang's car when she heard gunfire, and that Owyang did not fire the shots.
She said she did not see the shooting, but that another man jumped into the car after she heard the shots fired.
The prosecutor declined to comment on Chan's testimony, but did ask her in court why she failed to tell police about the other man.
The attorney representing Owyang says that man is now missing.
Owyang has pleaded not guilty in the case.
