Pittsburg Police Searching For Sexual Predator

 CBS 5 CrimeWatch

PITTSBURG (CBS 5 / BCN) ― Pittsburg police Monday were looking for a man believed to have abducted and sexually assaulted an 11-year-old girl over the weekend.

Police also believe that the same man lured a 19-year-old disabled woman into his car and attempted to sexually assault her less than two hours before kidnapping the 11-year-old, police reported.

The first incident occurred about 9:15 a.m. on Saturday. The 19-year-old victim was walking in the area of Harbor and Army streets when a man driving a green sedan approached her. The man coaxed the victim into his car under the pretense of giving her a ride to the store, police reported.

The man then drove the woman to a nearby residential neighborhood, where he attempted to sexually assault her inside his vehicle.

The woman screamed and was able to break free from her attacker and get out of the car. The man fled the scene.

The victim described her attacker as a black man in his 30s with a light complexion and a shaved head. He was driving a green two-door sedan with tinted windows police reported.

About 11 a.m. a man with a similar description approached an 11-year-old girl as she was walking in the area of School Street and Railroad Avenue.

The man initially tried to coax the girl into his car by offering her a ride home, but when she declined, he allegedly got out of the car and grabbed the girl, forcing her into his car, police reported.

The man then drove the girl to a residential neighborhood about three miles away and sexually assaulted her inside the car.

After completing the assault, he drove the girl back to the general location where he had abducted her, police reported.

The girl described her attacker as a black man in his 40s, about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing about 230 pounds. He had a light complexion, a shaved head and a tattoo of a woman's face on his right bicep. He was believed to have been driving a green 1990s four-door sedan with tinted windows and 20-inch rims.

Although the descriptions of the suspect differ in each incident, police believe that same man is responsible for both attacks.

Police were in the process of making arrangements for the victims to meet with a sketch artist.

Anyone with information on either incident or the suspect was asked by detectives to call the Pittsburg Police Department's tip line at (925) 252-7369.
