Power Pole Fire Causes Outages For SF Customers

SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) ― A fire on a power pole in San Francisco's Mission District Friday morning left 235 Pacific Gas and Electric Co. customers without electricity, a company spokesman said.

The outage was reported at 5:55 a.m. after the pole caught fire, PG&E spokesman J.D. Guidi said.

The San Francisco Fire Department responded to several fires on power poles Friday morning, the first in the 3900 block of Cesar Chavez Street at about 5:20 a.m. and the second at Hyde and Filbert streets just before 7 a.m., a dispatcher said.

No injuries were reported.

Dew on the power lines is believed to have started the fires, according to the dispatcher.

PG&E customers in the Mission District are expected to have their power restored at about 3 p.m. Friday, Guidi said.
