Rep. Miller Holds Obama Inauguration Tix Lottery
MARTINEZ (BCN) ―
Rep. George Miller Thursday announced a unique opportunity for district constituents gain access to the presidential inauguration Jan. 20.
Using a lottery, Miller, D-Martinez, will randomly select two residents of the 7th District to win pairs of tickets to the inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama.
Although winners will have to make their own way to Washington, D.C., for the event and arrange their own lodging, each constituent chosen will get to tickets.
"The enthusiasm for this year's presidential election and historic inauguration has been overwhelming," Miller said in a prepared statement. "It is deeply inspiring to see such interest in attending the inauguration. It speaks to both the historic nature of the Barack Obama presidency, but also the sense of urgency the public has for change in our country."
The deadline to enter the lottery is 11:59 p.m. Nov. 30. To register, go to
georgemiller.house.gov and click on "Inauguration 2009 Ticket Lottery."
The winners will be announced Dec. 1.
