Bay Area Man Holds obamabiden.com Domain Name

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5) ― A Bay Area man with quite a bit of foresight has already registered a domain name that would be of great interest to the Obama-Biden campaign. But he may face consequences if he tries to sell it to the Democratic nominee.

Lyle Dean of San Francisco has taken the domain name obamabiden.com back in 2006, well before Barack Obama formally announced his bid for president. Calls to Dean were not immediately returned.

Tom Merritt of CNET told CBS 5 if Dean does try to sell the address to the Obama campaign, it might be known as "cyber squatting," with recent legal decisions showing the law is on Obama's side.

Dean is not the only one who registered an Obama-Biden domain name. The owner of obamabiden.org is offering to sell the name on eBay for $100,000.
