Autopsy Planned For Oakland Body Under Junk Pile

OAKLAND (CBS 5 / AP / BCN) ― The Alameda County coroner said Thursday that an autopsy was planned to determine the cause of death for a missing elderly Oakland woman whose remains were found under a pile of debris in her own home.

Relatives of Eunice Workman had no idea where she had gone when they reported her missing seven years ago, but they finally found her on Wednesday night.

Workman's daughters were cleaning out her two-story north Oakland home when they discovered the decomposing body. Her remains, a cache of human bones, were in a second-floor bedroom, police said.

Workman had lived in the house in the 700 block of 47th Street for a decade before she went missing.

The home was filled from floor to ceiling with hoarded belongings, and it was suspected that the victim may have died by being crushed or trapped by collected piles of junk, and was simply never found, police said.

"We found her now," an OPD patrol officer said Thursday.
