The driver of a United Parcel Service truck was injured early Thursday morning after a collision sent the vehicle flying off Interstate Highway 880 in Oakland, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The truck apparently collided with another vehicle in the southbound lanes of Highway 880 just north of Oak Street at about 2 a.m.
The impact sent the UPS truck through a guardrail and onto a California Department of Transportation parking lot below at Fifth and Jackson streets, CHP Officer Kevin Kroncke said.
The driver suffered minor injuries, Kroncke said. Traffic on Highway 880 was not affected.
