2 Arrested For Counterfeit Bills In Novato

 CBS 5 CrimeWatch

NOVATO (BCN) ― Novato police arrested two people Wednesday on suspicion of counterfeiting after bogus $50 bills surfaced at a yard sale and business in Novato.

John William Gobbin, 42, a parolee, and Joye Lynn Brown, 46, were arrested at around 5:30 p.m. at their home at 1403 Chase St. in Novato.

Sgt. Keith Heiden said evidence of counterfeiting, counterfeit money, property purchased with counterfeit money and a small amount of methamphetamine were discovered in the residence during a search by Novato police, the Secret Service and the Marin County Major Crimes Task Force.

Gobbin was identified as the person who earlier this week bought items from a yard sale in Novato with a counterfeit $50 bill and tried to pass another fake $50 bill at a Novato business, Heiden said.

Gobbin and Brown were booked into the Marin County jail and were scheduled for arraignment this afternoon in Marin County Superior Court.
