Storm Knocks Out Power For 7,000 In Bay Area

MARIN (CBS 5 / BCN) ― Over 7,000 businesses and residents were without power Friday night in the Bay Area, mainly because of stormy weather, according to Pacific Gas and Electric Co.

The worst hit was the North Bay, where 2,638 PG&E customers were in the dark, said utility spokesman J.D. Guidi.

Power was also out for 1,260 customers in the Peninsula; 265 in San Francisco; 105 in the East Bay; and 100 in the South Bay, Guidi said.

There was no estimated time for when power will be restored, he said.

The numbers were considered to be promising because a major storm earlier this month had knocked out power to over a million PG&E customers.

Periods of heavy rainfall were forecast until 6 p.m. Saturday, meaning more power outages could occur, the utility said.
