2 Hurt When Cement Truck Overturns In Napa County
ST. HELENA (BCN) ―
A cement truck overturned and spilled some of its load onto state Highway 29 near St. Helena this morning when it struck a Dodge sedan that turned left into its path, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
A Sig-alert was still in effect around 10:30 a.m. on state Highway 29 and traffic was being diverted onto the Silverado Trail from Lodi Lane and Deer Park Road, CHP Officer Jaret Paulson said.
Two occupants of the Dodge sedan suffered minor-to-moderate injuries and were taken to Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa, Paulson said.
The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. when the Dodge, which was traveling west on Deer Park Road, turned left onto southbound Highway 29 into the path of the cement mixer that was heading north on Highway 29, Paulson said.
The cement mixer braked hard but struck the Dodge broadside and overturned onto the passenger side, Paulson said. The truck driver was not injured.
A Sig-alert was issued around 9 a.m.
The CHP also reported the incident caused a diesel spill.
