Man, Woman Murdered In Mountain View Home
MOUNTAIN VIEW (CBS 5 / AP / BCN) ―
Police on Sunday continued to investigate a double homicide in Mountain View that detectives believe was not a random incident.
Police officers responding to a report of gunshots just before 5 a.m. Saturday found a man and a woman dead inside a home at 1987 Plymouth Street that showed no signs of forced entry.
Investigators found the front door open, though no one answered when they knocked early Saturday.
Officers don't know what the motive was, or how the two victims knew each other, but said they don't think the murders were random.
"Everything so far is pointing to not random," Mountain View Police Department spokeswoman Liz Wylie said. "There were no signs of forced entry. That in and of itself would say it's not random."
The victims' identities and causes of death had not been released.
"We know that there were shots fired, but we can't say that's the cause of death," Wylie said. "There could have been other weapons."
Authorities had determined the deaths were both homicides and not a murder-suicide, according to Wylie.
No suspects had yet been arrested, Wylie said.
Police urged anyone with information to call the Mountain View Police Department at (650) 903-6344. Callers may remain anonymous, police said.
