Outbound Muni streetcars experienced severe delays Monday.
San Francisco Municipal Railway returned to normal service late Monday morning after a switching problem near the Embarcadero station caused delays throughout the morning commute.
The problem affected the entire Muni Metro system, particularly in the outbound direction from Embarcadero.
While service returned to normal as of 10:40 a.m., Muni spokesman Judson True said crews were still working to resolve the switching problem.
As a result, he warned that periodic delays on the system could still be possible.
