Muni Service Restored After Car Hits Power Pole
SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) ―
San Francisco Municipal Railway crews Saturday afternoon completed repair work to a power support pole that was damaged in a traffic accident earlier Saturday, allowing service to be restored to most affected Muni lines.
Around 3 a.m. a vehicle entered a Muni right-of-way on San Jose Avenue south of Randall Street and collided with a power support pole, Muni spokesman Judson True said.
The impact of the collision loosened the pole enough to prevent Muni Metro trains from using the Muni track on San Jose Avenue, according to True.
The J-Church, F-Market and N-Judah lines were subsequently affected. Bus shuttles were implemented for the J-Church and F-Market lines, and some N-Judah trains were slightly delayed, True said.
At about 4:45 p.m., Muni officials completed a test of the lines and began restoring service on the J-Church line, although bus shuttles will remain in effect until the line is fully restored, according to True.
Bus shuttles will also remain in service for the F-Market line until the end of service Saturday.
The N-Judah streetcars, which had switched to using part of the K-Ingleside line, have returned to their regular route, True said.
