30 Hurt In Downtown SF Muni Bus Crash

SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) ― Thirty people were injured Tuesday when a San Francisco Municipal Railway bus collided with another vehicle at Market and Jones streets, a Muni spokeswoman said.

A 71 Haight-Noriega bus and another vehicle were both traveling east on Market Street when they collided shortly after 8 p.m., Muni spokeswoman Kristen Holland said.

Preliminary reports indicate seven people were taken to the hospital and 23 others were treated at the scene for injuries sustained in the crash, Holland said. It did not appear that any of the injuries were life-threatening, she said.

The driver of the Muni vehicle will be tested for drugs and alcohol and placed on non-driving status as part of standard procedure, Holland said.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
