Coroner ID's Victim Of Hayward Motorcycle Crash
HAYWARD (BCN) ―
A 22-year-old man who died Friday night in Hayward after crashing his motorcycle into a vehicle that had backed out of a driveway has been identified Saturday by the Alameda County coroner's bureau.
Hayward resident Luis Arnoldo Escobar was riding his 2007 Yamaha R1 motorcycle south on East 12th Street near Broadway around 10:54 p.m. when a 2000 Dodge Intrepid backed out of a driveway and into the middle of the street, according to Hayward police.
The victim lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into the side of the Dodge.
Emergency personnel responded to the crash within minutes after receiving the first report, but the Escobar was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol had any role in the crash, but police said speed was a factor in the collision. An autopsy will be performed on Escobar on Monday, according to the coroner's bureau.
The Hayward Police Department's Traffic Bureau is investigating the incident and anyone with further information is asked to contact Officer Eric Mulhern at (510) 293-7011.
