N. Bay Man Pleads Not Guilty In Mother's Stabbing
SANTA ROSA (AP) ―
A Santa Rosa man is due back in court later this month after pleading not guilty to charges of torture and murder in the fatal stabbing of his mother.
Christopher Lavis has been in custody since Oct. 10 when police arrested him after he tried to leave a restaurant on San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf without paying.
Prosecutors say the 41-year-old Lavis stabbed his mother63-year-old Connie LaSallein her Santa Rosa condominium sometime in early September.
Her body was found on Sept. 27, two weeks after friends and neighbors became worried because they couldn't reach her.
After the attorney representing Lavis requested additional time in the case, the judge set another hearing for Nov. 26.
