MORGAN HILL (BCN) ―
A 30-year-old Morgan Hill man was arrested and another man remains at large after a vehicle pursuit in Morgan Hill ended with a crash near Barrett Elementary School early Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Wayne Bell was arrested after the incident, which began around 1:50 a.m. when an officer attempted to stop a 2002 Ford that allegedly committed a traffic violation on Nina Lane south of San Pedro Avenue, police said.
The driver of the Ford failed to yield to the officer and drove more than 50 mph south on Walnut Grove Road, police said.
The Ford then ran off the roadway, collided with a fence and continued into private property when it hit a fence bordering Barrett Elementary School, according to police.
The driver and passenger of the Ford exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot, police said.
The passenger, Bell, was eventually taken into custody but the driver managed to escape, according to police.
