The body of a 35-year-old San Jose woman who had been missing for more than a week was found Wednesday in a Milpitas landfill, authorities said.
The body of Ann Lisa Nguyen was found about 12:45 p.m. at the Newby Island Landfill, which police had been searching for several days.
Last week, officers arrested Anthony Davis Evans, a 45-year-old convicted felon, on suspicion of killing Nguyen in his San Jose apartment on Dec. 8.
Evans was arrested after family members, who reported Nguyen missing, found her car parked in front of his apartment on Alvin Avenue. Nguyen's brother said Evans was his sister's personal trainer.
Evans was expected to appear in a Santa Clara County courtroom Friday.
He is being charged as a three strikes offender and faces a maximum possible sentence of 81 years to life in prison if convicted.
The prior felony convictions, which include arson and kidnapping, stem from 1992.
