Missing Campbell Senior's Family Canvasing S. Bay

CAMPBELL (BCN) ― Family members of a 63-year-old Campbell man with dementia who has been missing since Tuesday have continued to travel around the South Bay posting flyers and talking to people to see if anyone has seen him.

Ross Abinanti was separated from his family around 7 p.m. Tuesday in a parking structure at North Second Street and Civic Center Drive, according to the Campbell Police Department.

The missing man's cousin, Joe Abinanti, said that he has been putting up posters and talking to people in San Jose, Campbell, Saratoga, Santa Clara and Los Gatos.

"It's going on three days," Joe Abinanti said. "He's got dementia and he hasn't had his medication."

Our family is getting desperate, he said.

A search party has been meeting between 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m. daily at a Starbucks in Campbell located on the corner of Campbell Avenue and First Street.

"We have had no report whatsoever in the last 48 hours. Nothing. ... What we need is just one person to say they have seen him," Ross Abinanti's son-in-law, Bret Jordan, said Friday. "It's like he vanished off the face of the Earth."

It is feared that due to his dementia, Abinanti has likely not had anything to eat or drink since his disappearance.

"He is probably hungry, very thirsty and very confused," Jordan said.
Police also said the missing man will require medical attention if he is not located soon.

"We asked people not to approach him but to call the PD immediately. We have a firm belief that we don't think he even knows he's lost," Jordan said.

Abinanti is a white man who is about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs about 270 pounds. He may have boarded public transportation or could be walking at a slow pace.

He was last seen wearing a white baseball cap, a dark gray polo shirt with vertical stripes, khaki shorts, white socks and tennis shoes, and a medical alert bracelet with his name on it.

Anyone with information on Abinanti's whereabouts is urged to contact the Campbell Police Department at (408) 866-2101.
