Alameda Woman Goes Missing From Convalescent Home
ALAMEDA CO. (BCN) ―
A 69-year-old woman who suffers from dementia, high blood pressure and diabetes went missing from the Alameda County convalescent home early Sunday morning, according to the Alameda County Sheriff's Office.
Mary Anderson was last seen at about 4:20 a.m. in her bed in the St. Therese Convalescent Hospital at 21863 Vallejo St. near Hayward, according to the sheriff's office.
About one hour later, the nursing staff at the convalescent home called the sheriff's office to report Anderson missing.
A search of the surrounding neighborhood, including the Hayward Bay Area Rapid Transit station and local fast food restaurants, was conducted at about 5:30 a.m., but Anderson was not found, sheriff's officials reported.
Anderson is believed to be at risk, as she requires four daily insulin injections for her diabetes, officials reported.
Her last injection was at about 8 p.m. Saturday.
Anderson is described as a black female standing about 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing about 120 pounds.
She was last seen wearing tight-fitting polyester pants with a black or brown jacket and a brown bonnet, according to the sheriff's office.
Anyone who comes into contact with Anderson should immediately call the sheriff's office at (510) 667-7721.
