Oakland Girl Found, Friend Remains Missing

 CBS 5 CrimeWatch

OAKLAND (CBS 5 / KCBS / BCN) ― Oakland police say an 11-year-old girl reported missing earlier in the week was found Friday, and taken into protective custody.

Keyoneshaa Furgerson was last seen on Monday at Frick Middle School, but never returned home that afternoon.

Furgerson was found Friday due to an "overwhelming amount of police pressure and media coverage," police reported.

12-year-old Laquiea Terry, Furgerson's friend, and classmate, who reportedly went missing at the same time has not been found. Without giving any specifics, Oakland police said they Terry may be the victim of forced prostitution.

"Our youth and family services division are experts on child exploitation, and knowing what we do about the investigation, we believe that she is at risk for child prostitution," said Police Investigator Holly Joshi.

Authorities say the two were runaways who likely ran into the wrong people.
