Man Arrested In North Bay Market Murder, Robberies
SANTA ROSA (BCN) ―
A Windsor man
was arrested Thursday in connection with three violent robberies in the Santa Rosa area since Saturday, including the shooting of
a father and son at a Santa Rosa
market late Monday night.
Santa
Rosa police believe Javier Pena, 37, shot dead
56-year-old Gurdip Singh and critically injured Singh's 26-year-old son
Sarabjit after demanding money from them at Bill's Market at 817 Russell Ave. Monday night.
Police also believe Pena is connected to two
other shooting robberies in the Santa
Rosa area, the first Saturday morning at a Fast and Easy
Mart at 5321 Old Redwood Highway
that left a clerk with bullet wounds in his leg and the latest Tuesday morning
in the area of West Creek Lane
that critically injured a 41-year-old man.
In all three incidents, the suspect demanded
money and shot the victims whether or not they complied, police said.
A police investigation revealed the same gun
was used in each incident.
Pena was initially taken into custody Wednesday
on a parole violation and was subsequently connected to the shooting robberies
based on evidence uncovered from search warrants on three separate Windsor residences and a
vehicle.
He was booked into jail today on charges of one
count homicide, three counts attempted homicide and three counts
robbery.
