Bay Area Firm Offers Cell Phone Money Transfers


REDWOOD CITY (CBS 5) ― Western Union is getting some high-tech competition. A Peninsula company is introducing money transfers by cell phone.

Redwood City-based Obopay is offering the new service between cell phone customers in the U.S., but has plans to expand overseas. And Obopay's fees have shaken up the money-sending business, at a 10 cent flat rate.
