Suspects Slip Away In SF Strip Club Standoff

(CBS 5) San Francisco police finally stormed a strip club after a four-hour standoff Monday, but weren't able to find the suspected robbers inside.

The incident started about 11am, after four armed robbers apparently broke their way into Centerfolds on Broadway. Witnesses said that the three men and one woman roughed up one of the club's employees.

Police surrounded the building, and eventually brought some of the workers out. But none of the employees were able to tell investigators if the suspects were still inside the club. About 2:30pm, officers decided to enter Centerfolds, but after an hour and a half search they determined that the suspects had left the building.

During the standoff, a nearby school -- John Yehall Chin Elementary -- was in lockdown. Parents were called and told to pick up their children behind the building, away from the situation on Broadway.

The standoff forced many street closures in the area, but all the roads had reopened by 6pm.
