237 Bay Area DUI Arrests Over July 4th Weekend

(BCN) The California Highway Patrol arrested 237 Bay Area drivers for driving under the influence during the holiday weekend enforcement period.

Statewide, the CHP reported 1,704 arrests and 36 fatalities between 6 p.m. Thursday and midnight Sunday.

Alameda County law enforcement agencies reported 112 DUI arrests, and Solano County agencies arrested 21 drivers over the weekend.

The last comparable CHP Fourth of July DUI campaign was in 2005 when 1,590 arrests and 56 fatalities were reported statewide. In the Bay Area, 237 arrests and five fatalities occurred.

No fatalities were reported in Bay Area jurisdictions this year.
