 CBS 5 CrimeWatch

SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) ― San Francisco police Thursday announced the arrest of two men for the murder of a 53-year-old man in the city's Tenderloin neighborhood on Wednesday.

Robert Hannah, 57, and Michael Cooper, 44, were arrested for the murder of Richard Weiland, a homeless man who was beaten to death early Wednesday morning.

Weiland was repeatedly punched at Turk and Taylor streets at about 2 a.m. and was pronounced dead at the scene.

At least one of the suspects rummaged through Weiland's pockets before fleeing, police reported.

Hannah was arrested for homicide, while Cooper was arrested for both homicide and robbery.

The two were arrested near where the beating occurred after witness accounts led to the identification of Hannah and Cooper.

Police request that anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information to contact the San Francisco police homicide section at (415) 553-1145.

Callers wishing to remain anonymous can also call the Confidential Tip Line at (415) 575-4444.
