2 Adults Dead, 4 Kids Hurt In Hwy. 237 Crash In SJ
SAN JOSE (BCN) ―
Two adults were killed and four children were injured in San Jose Sunday night when a two-door coupe rear-ended a Ford Explorer and caused the sport utility vehicle to flip over, fire officials said.
The two-vehicle crash was reported around 9:30 p.m. at North First Street and state Highway 237, according to San Jose fire Capt. Barry Stallard.
Of the six people in the Explorer, two were pronounced dead at the
scene -- a man and a woman in their late teens or early 20s -- and four children ranging from ages 5 to 15 were transported to local hospitals in critical condition, Stallard said.
The two people in the coupe were not seriously injured, according to Stallard.
The Explorer was totaled in the crash and remained overturned as emergency personnel responded to assist, Stallard said.
All lanes of eastbound Highway 237 were shut down and traffic was diverted at Great America Parkway in Santa Clara, while the California Highway Patrol investigated the fatal crash.
