Firefighters Friday evening fully contained a 25-acre vegetation that broke out Thursday afternoon in steep and rocky terrain near Fremont, according to Cal Fire.
The fire burned in the area of Niles Canyon and Palomares roads. Fire officials initially estimated about 15 acres had burned, but determined today the fire was approximately 25 acres.
Firefighters had hoped to have the blaze fully contained this morning, but Cal Fire spokesman Chris Morgan said the difficult terrain hindered their effort to establish full perimeter around the fire.
The fire was fully contained as of 6 p.m. Fire crews will monitor the area overnight and continue to patrol the area Saturday morning to make sure there are no hotspots.
Three firefighters suffered minor or moderate injuries due to falling rocks and debris Thursday, according to Cal Fire Battalion Chief Jim Crawford.
A fourth fire fighter suffered minor heat-related injuries, Crawford said.
