Dog Dies In 2-Alarm Hercules House Fire
HERCULES (BCN) ―
Two cats and an iguana were rescued from a two-alarm fire that destroyed a Hercules house early Sunday morning, but a dog and another cat were not as lucky, a battalion chief said.
The blaze was reported at 3:30 a.m. at 224 Oriole Court, according to Battalion Chief Alan Biagi.
The flames, which appeared to have ignited in the garage of the two-story home, destroyed the house before firefighters had the blaze knocked down around 5:30 a.m., Biagi said.
Three adults and two teenagers living in the home were displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross, according to Biagi.
Two of the residents were treated for smoke inhalation. No firefighters were injured, he said.
A dog's body was found in the home, Biagi said, and another cat has not been seen since the fire.
He said the fire was not considered suspicious.
The cause remained under investigation.
