Hercules Man Fatally Shot In Car In Front Of Home

 CBS 5 CrimeWatch

HERCULES (BCN) ― A man who was shot to death Thursday night in front of his home in Hercules has been identified as 43-year-old Timothy Cook, a Contra Costa County coroner's deputy said Friday.

Officers responded to calls reporting a shooting at around 10:30 p.m. in front of a home at 713 Devonwood, Hercules police spokeswoman Michelle Harrington said.

Arriving officers found Cook in a vehicle with gunshot wounds, Harrington said. He had apparently just arrived home when he was shot eight times.

Cook was pronounced dead at Doctors Medical Center.

Witnesses told police a suspect was seen who was described as male, around 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing around 170 pounds.

Investigators were waiting on search warrants this morning before they began going through Cook's house to see if there was anything inside that could lead to a potential suspect or point to a possible motive for the shooting, Harrington said.

Cook is the city's second homicide victim this year. The first was 43-year-old Wyander Ricketts, who was beaten to death inside her home in March. Her husband, Norman McGinnis, 56, was arrested and charged with murder. He remains in custody at the Martinez Detention Facility awaiting trial.
