Hot Weather Warps ACE Train Tracks

PLEASANTON (BCN) ― Three Altamont Commuter Express trains arrived to their final destinations as many as three hours late Tuesday after the heat warped tracks between the Fremont and Pleasanton stations.

The No. 4 train was forced to stop 3 miles outside of Pleasanton while Union Pacific crews performed work on the tracks, ACE officials said.

The train was expected to be released within an hour but was detained longer when Union Pacific crews found a second spot with "sun kinks."

The No. 6 and 8 trains running behind the No. 4 train were delayed
by the work as well. The No. 4 train departed the Lathrop/Manteca station
more than three hours behind schedule. The No. 6 and 8 trains departed more than one and a half hours late.
