 CBS 5 CrimeWatch

HAYWARD (BCN) ― A man who was fatally shot in Hayward early Monday morning has been identified as 27-year-old Eduardo Pereira, Hayward police Lt. Chris Orrey said.

Police received multiple reports of gunfire in the 28000 block of Cole Place beginning at 12:44 a.m.

Responding officers found Pereira, Hayward resident, and a second man in front of a residence suffering from gunshot wounds. Both men were transported to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley, where Pereira died.

The second victim is expected to survive his injuries, Orrey said.

Witnesses described the gunman as a Hispanic man in his 20s, of medium height and with a thin build. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, police said.

A motive for the shooting hasn't been established and no suspects have been identified, police said.

Anybody with information about the shooting is asked to call Inspector Bob Coffey at (510) 293-7083 or Hayward police dispatch at (510) 293-7000.
