Brush Fire Near Half Moon Bay Burns Several Acres
HALF MOON BAY (AP) ―
A brush fire near state Highway 92 along the eastern edge of Half Moon Bay has been contained, a fire spokesman said Tuesday night.
The fire was first reported at 4:51 p.m. Tuesday in the hills behind an area known as Spanish Town, said Belmont-San Carlos Fire Chief Doug Fry, who acted as the mutual aid coordinator for the incident.
The blaze grew to three alarms and burned a total of about 7 to 10 acres, Fry said. It was contained around 7:30 p.m. and controlled about half an hour later, he said.
Several dozen firefighters participated in the effort, including crews from the Coastside Fire Protection District and Pacifica, Fry said.
No property was damaged and no injuries were reported. Crews will remain at the site of the blaze overnight, Fry said.
