Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore will be in San Jose in September to speak about the necessity of combining green building practices with state-of-the-art technology.
The Nobel laureate will be the keynote speaker at West Coast Green, an interactive conference and expo dedicated to raising awareness about green innovation, building and technology, according to conference leaders.
It will include more than 400 exhibits of the latest green technology, and 200 experts and leaders in the field will discuss various aspects of the movement.
"Addressing both the challenges and significant opportunities that humanity is facing requires significant innovation in technology, business and building, and we are extremely excited to hear Mr. Gore's timely exploration of the intersection of these industries," West Coast Green founder and CEO Christi Graham said.
Building materials and processes account for roughly a third of carbon emissions, and the built space in the U.S. is projected to double over the next 40 years, making it imperative that the building industry "green" itself, according to West Coast Green.
The conference will take place at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center Sept. 25 through 27. Gore will speak at 9 a.m. on Sept. 27.
