Elderly Man Killed In Walnut Creek Golf Cart Wreck

  A 79-year-old man died Sunday after the golf cart he was riding in collided with a car in Walnut Creek on Saturday morning, according to the Police Department.

Roland Scrivner and the driver were trying to cross a street in the 3100 block of Rossmoor Parkway shortly after 9 a.m. when the golf cart collided with an oncoming car, police said.

The collision seriously injured Scrivner's leg, police said.

Scrivner underwent surgery but died Sunday morning at John Muir Medical Center, police said.

The other person in the golf cart sustained minor injuries and was released at the scene. The driver of the other car was not injured, police said.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
