Victims Recovering After GG Bridge Head-On Crash
SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) ―
The California Highway Patrol said three Sausalito residents and a San Francisco resident were involved in the three-vehicle crash on the Golden Gate Bridge on Wednesday afternoon.
Brian Benjamin Clark, 48, of San Francisco, was driving south in the No. 1 lane of the bridge around 3:10 p.m. when his 2006 Volkswagen Passat crossed into the No. 1 lane of U.S. Highway 101 on the bridge, the CHP said.
Clark's Passat sideswiped a northbound 2000 Volkswagen Passat driven by Brian John Gerritsen, 38, of Sausalito, then collided head-on with a northbound 1995 Honda CRV driven by Grace M. Dammann, 61, of Sausalito, according to the CHP.
Clark suffered moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to San Francisco General Hospital, the CHP said. Dammann suffered major injuries, including major fractures to both legs and arms and trauma to her upper torso. She was taken by helicopter to the John Muir Hospital where she was in critical condition, the CHP said.
Dammann's 14-year-old daughter who was riding in the Honda suffered a fractured right hand and head injuries and was taken by ambulance to Marin General Hospital, the CHP said. Gerritsen was not injured, the CHP said.
All four were wearing seatbelts. The crash closed the bridge until 4:30 p.m.
